Description: |
Spiny herb or undershrub. Spines 2 per axil. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 5-10 x 0.5 – 1.5 cm, dark green with red midrib above, pale beneath. Flowers yellow, in 5-8 cm long erect or nodding spikes. Capsule 1-5 cm long. |

Uses: |
Juice of the leaves given with honey in catarrhal affections of children. A paste of the roots applied to boils and glandular swellings. Leaves chewed relieve toothache. Roots febrifuge. |
